8th Annual Oktobenefest – A Huge Success!!!
The 8th Annual Oktobenefest to benefit St. Susan Center was held on Sunday, September 20th at Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood and it was deemed a huge success.
“I said before this was an event you don’t want to miss,” said Jeffrey Smith, Executive Director of St. Susan Center. “We had great weather as the sun was out and the temperature was just perfect. Guests were entertained by local group “Greatest Hits” who played the greatest hits of the last 40 years and everyone was having a great time.”
Patrons feasted on brats, shish-kabobs, corn and desserts, as well as their choice of all those great Southern Tier beers. The Busti Cider Mill also donated fresh cider for the event.
Gary Peters from Fresh Press Studios was on site printing Oktobenefest T-Shirts during the event.
Tonya Himes- Lobello, Treasurer for St. Susan Center said in her statement, “Thanks to Owners Phin & Sara DeMink at Southern Tier Brewing Company for hosting this event again for us. We also want to thank General Manager Mike Osgood and his staff for all their hard work in setting the event up and assisting us throughout the day. Finally, we want to thank everyone who came out and supported Oktobenefest. This event just keeps growing bigger every year. This year we were able to raise over $ 8,000 for the soup kitchen’s operation.”
“If you have never been to the Southern Tier Brewing Company or been there during a fund-raising event, you are really missing a wonderful business managed by community-minded staff. The residents of the Chautauqua Region have this gem tucked into the hillside in Ashville. You can relax with friends and enjoy a great variety of beers in a beautiful natural setting. We are so fortunate that they open their doors for these important community events”, commented Smith.
Next up for St. Susan Center is the annual Holiday Sale. The Basket Company has created six different yummy candy and nut baskets ranging from $12.00- $27.00 with the proceeds to benefit the soup kitchen. Order forms can be emailed to you by calling the center at 716.664.2253.
