Karen Simmes has been selected as the November Volunteer of the Month at St. Susan Center. Karen has been volunteering at the soup kitchen for 3 years. She is retired from Panama Central School where she worked in the cafeteria for nearly 30 years. She and her husband David are celebrating their 55th anniversary in December, with their 3 children 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
In her spare time, she likes to sing and she enjoys gospel and bluegrass music. Karen is also a charter member of the Panama Fire Department& Auxiliary and attends church at Wrightsville Community Church. Karen volunteers at the soup kitchen because as she says “l like to help others and we also have lots fun there. “ She especially likes work with Chef Larry Rifle.
