11th Annual Oktobenefest on August 14th

The 11th Annual Oktobenefest sponsored by Southern Tier Brewing Company (2072 Stoneman Circle in Lakewood) is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit St. Susan Center.

Jeffrey Smith, executive director of St. Susan Center said. “This is always a date that many in our community have had circled on their calendars. This event keeps growing bigger and bigger as more people attend each year. Thanks to social media we have expanded our reach to more than just Chautauqua County, last year we again had folks from Ohio, Pittsburg, Toronto and even Florida who attended.

St. Susan Center Staff, Board of Directors and local volunteers will be working the food tents serving up Brats, Corn on the Cob and Pulled Pork Sandwiches. Oktobenefester’s will be able to wash it down with their choice of all those great Southern Tier beers. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. There will be live music by Happy Days.

Last year despite the inclement weather, over 300 people came out to attend the event and help raise funds for St. Susan Center. According to Jeffrey Smith, executive director, ”Mother Nature was defeated by the Spirit of St. Susan’s and everyone who came out and supported the event. I also think that the popularity of the event it might have something to do with the explosive growth of all that great Southern Tier Beer. ”

“Oktobenefest wouldn’t be possible with the incredible generosity of Phin and Sara Demink, owners of Southern Tier Brewing Company. This is the 11th time they have opened up their facility to help us raise money for the soup kitchen. Said Tonya Himes-Lobello, St. Susan Center Board President. We want to thank them for allowing us to be here and we’d also like to thank General Manager Mike Osgood and his staff for giving of their time to help make the day a success.”

Those looking for fun activities there will be corn hole and stones to play, as well as a 50/50 raffle. Admission and parking to the event are free.

Additional information about the event is available by calling St. Susan Center at 716-664-2253.
