Community Spirit Shines at 12th Annual Holiday Haul: Generous Donations of Over $11,000 and 6,700 Pounds of Food Collected

JAMESTOWN, NY —  The community has once again come together in an extraordinary show of generosity during the 12th Annual Holiday Haul for the St. Susan Center.

Despite battling extreme cold temperatures, donors and volunteers showed unwavering dedication, embodying the joy of the season and warming hearts with their generosity. Thanks to their efforts, the St. Susan Center raised $11,700 and collected 6,700 pounds of food, ensuring meals and support for our neighbors in need throughout the year.

“The outpouring of support this year has been truly heartwarming,” said Cherie Rowland, Executive Director of St. Susan Center. “Every dollar and every can of food donated helps us continue our mission to provide food, fellowship, dignity, and respect to those who walk through our doors. We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed and to our amazing team of organizers and volunteers who made this event possible.”

This annual event, held at the Jamestown Cycle Shop parking lot, has become a cherished tradition, bringing the community together to support St. Susan Center’s vital programs.

Co-organizer Dan Keefe expressed his gratitude: “The Holiday Haul showcases what our community can achieve when we come together. These donations make a real impact, and it’s inspiring to see so many people join forces to help those in need.”

Tracy Tellinghuisen, another dedicated co-organizer, echoed the sentiment: “It’s incredible to witness the kindness and generosity of our community. Every contribution, big or small, helps stock the shelves and fund the operations that make St. Susan Center such an essential resource.”

This year’s Holiday Haul was especially meaningful as St. Susan Center continues its capital fundraising campaign to transform the recently donated Jamestown Business College building into its new home. The renovations will include a spacious dining room, modern kitchen, pantry, and dedicated programming spaces, significantly enhancing the Center’s ability to serve the community.

The Holiday Haul, originally the brainchild of Keith Martin, continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of co-founder Dan Keefe and the many community partners who have supported it over the years. While Martin has retired, his vision and commitment to this tradition remain deeply appreciated.

As St. Susan Center celebrates the success of the 12th Annual Holiday Haul, it’s a reminder of the power of community to bring hope and sustenance to those in need. For more information about the St. Susan Center or to find out how you can contribute year-round, visit StSusanCenter.org.
